Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to 2021!
We have updated our tour portfolio for the new year, making the necessary changes to deal with our new situation in the post-COVID-19 world.
What’s new at Coconut Reef for 2021?
As we’re sure you’re keenly aware, 2020 was not exactly the kind of year anyone expected or wished for back in December of 2019.
This time last year, we had just launched our new boat Blu Bi U. We managed to get quite a few trips under our belt and work out all the kinks. Then March rolled around and the lockdowns and travel restrictions started.
We’ve spent the intervening months waiting, watching, and anticipating when we could get back into ‘normal’ operation. There have been several delays, false starts, and changing regulations but we think we finally see some light at the end of the tunnel (at least until someone extends the tunnel again…)
Given the new ‘normal’, we have revised our tour lineup to meet the new challenge of the times.
Regretfully, we can no longer provide open, shared charters. Having mixed groups on our small group tours are just too difficult to manage while ensuring the health of our crew and passengers. We are now only conducting private charters.
As a result, this means that our most popular tours such as the St Maarten Snorkel and Discovery Tour and our Twilight Lagoon Cruise are no longer viable for open sales to individual guests. We can still operate these on request but only for private groups. We have re-packaged these tours into our new St Maarten Coastal Explorer tour.

St Maarten Coastal Explorer
Comes in different flavors according to your needs…
- Daytime Private Charter exploring the coastal regions of St Maarten. Great for daytime touring, snorkeling, beach time, or whatever else you would like to do. It’s your charter, you set the itinerary or we can recommend several options for you.
- Twilight/Evening Lagoon Cruise. We can arrange a romantic, laid back cruise of our lagoon between the French and Dutch side of the lagoon. With some forward planning, we can even arrange a lagoon-side pub crawl, stopping at various waterside stops around the lagoon.
Our new primary emphasis is on affordable Fishing Charters. We are now offering both Half (5+ hours) and Full (7+ hours) Day Fishing Charters, at prices accessible to the average traveler.
Our Half Day Fishing Charter is a perfect trip for the casual angler, mixed groups of anglers and non-anglers or families. We stay relatively close to land but still manage to get in some true, deep-sea fishing. You have the option to fish the entire trip or mix it up with a little beach time thrown in along the way.
Half Day Fishing Charter
Our Half Day Fishing Charter departs at 10 a.m. on any given day of the week (weather and availability permitting) and returns around 3:30 p.m.
Our Full Day Fishing Charter gives us the time to head out into the blue and access the big game grounds. With the extra time, we can travel out into the migratory path of the big pelagics where we will have more chance to pull in some good size Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Tuna. Bottom fishing is also an option and with our electric reels, we can access the deeper dwellers in 1000+ feet depths.
Full Day Deep Sea Fishing
Departing at 8:00 a.m., you decide how much fishing you can stand! We can return at either 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.
