Description

Half Day, Deep Sea Fishing on St Maarten

…aboard our 38 ft Power cat, Blu Bi U. This is our short-haul fishing charter for those with limited time on their hands. This is also a great option if you have a mixed group of anglers and non-anglers aboard. We stay just a few miles off the coast of St Maarten where we will find several productive reefs and wrecks. We also venture out into the blue, deep dropping in 800 – 1,000 ft of water in search of  Snapper and Grouper. When the conditions are right, we also throw out a line or two and troll for surface predators like Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, and maybe the odd Wahoo.

  • Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, travel to territories outside of St Maarten waters may be restricted. Please check with us before you book.

Details

Designed for the casual angler, our St Maarten Half Day/Reef Fishing tour is perfect for couples, family groups or those with fresh water experience looking to try their hand at salt water fishing. We combine some great salt water, reef fishing action with the addition of some nice beach or snorkeling time. If you need some serious game fishing action then we recommend you try out our full day, off-shore fishing charter. If, on the other hand, you’d like to get in a little fishing time with the family or a less than enthusiastic partner then this tour is a great option. We’ll put in some quality fishing time on our productive reefs and then follow up with some time at a lovely sandy beach or some great snorkeling to round off the afternoon.

The Boat

Our boat, Blu Bi U, is a 38 foot, motor catamaran, powered by two Mercury 150hp outboards. She will accommodate between 1 to 8 anglers and up to a total of 12 passengers in style and comfort. We have a head on-board, along with a small galley. She has a range of over 200 miles and being a twin hull boat, has excellent stability along with a smooth ride in but the roughest conditions. With a beam of about 14 feet, side mounted outriggers and ample rod holders strategically placed around half the deck, we can run maximum lines to increase our chances for a hit.

At the helm, Blu Bi U features a range of modern electronics and equipment to ensure your comfort and safety. We use a Simrad GPS and Fishfinder hooked up to a Maretron GPS antenna and an Airmar 1KW transducer which allows us to view bottom features down to a range of 3,000 feet. We also sport a state of the art music and entertainment system to keep you rocking in between the fishing action. Feel free to bring your own tunes!

Your Charter

We depart from our marina in Cole Bay at 10 a.m. sharp and exit the lagoon through the Simpson Bay Bridge. Within about 20 minutes, we are ready for lines down and begin fishing. If the season is right, we might be trolling for about an hour, or we might just start by hitting up one of several local reef sites. We move around during the day to find the most productive sites we can find based on conditions and water quality. Depending on your preference, we may fish all day until around 2:30 p.m. Alternatively, once we’re done fishing, we can pick up lines and then head inshore to one of our favorite beach spots for some relaxation time with a little snorkeling and/or swimming. At around 2:30 p.m. we head back to port and return to the marina under the 3 p.m. inbound bridge.

Open Bar is available throughout the day. Lunch is provided on-board – Freshly made sandwiches on fresh French Baguettes; Ham and Cheese, Tuna and Chicken accompanied by a homemade Coleslaw and condiments.
